To Cut or not to Cut?
Choosing the right salon and stylist can be a hair-raising experience (pun fully intended). Salons compete to stay ahead of the game on the latest trends and techniques; stylists spend several hours learning what length goes best with what hair shape. Salons such as Rush Hair Salon, are “a cut above the rest”. Regardless, it’s your head and your look. You want to make sure you are comfortable with the ideas being presented and with the experience. So how do you go about finding the best one for your style?
The internet is a good place to start. Find out what salons are near you and what people are saying about them. Look into things like atmosphere, stylist attitude, and bang-for-buck. Look into the salons themselves – have they won awards or are they more of a mom-and-pop joint? Do they go for cutting edge or classing? Both? Do they offer color? Other services? Do they have a website? If yes, check it out and see what they have to say about themselves: what they strive for, what they’ve achieved, what services they offer. Armed with this information, you can move on to step two.
Scout Out the Shop
Pop in for a look around. While they may not be able to give you a tour, per se, the lobby and reception area can give you a good impression for the rest of the salon. Is it neat and tidy? Is it more modern in style? It may be you prefer the more casual look, with magazines sprawled on the tables and comfy chairs. Whatever the case may be, you want to feel welcome and comfortable. If you have kids, you want to know they will be welcome, too. If not, perhaps you don’t want kids to be running around the salon while you’re trying to relax.
Don’t Settle (but feel free to fall in love)
Just because you book an appointment at one salon doesn’t mean you are chained there for life. It’s okay to try a few different places before making a long-term decision. That said, you don’t have to keep looking. If one appointment is all it takes for you to fall in love with a stylist or a salon, then hooray! Enjoy that gorgeous look!
Choosing a salon is more than just finding someone to cut your hair. Having an idea of what style you are after, or what services, will help you narrow the choices before you start hunting. Some salons, like Rush Hair and Beauty Salon, offer hair therapy and coloring, others offer waxing, and still more have special blow-drying techniques. Find a salon that fits your style, but also one that fits your needs.
Keep an Open Mind
This may seem like a complete contrast to number four, but in reality they go hand-in-hand. While it’s good to know what you are after, don’t completely reject suggestion. Sometimes the best stylist is the one who gives it to you straight. It may be that shade of color doesn’t match your skin tone or that style doesn’t hang right with your facial shape. You need a stylist who will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear.
For some people, there is nothing more relaxing than getting their hair done. Don’t let a pleasant activity become a total headache. Do your research, check things out, know what you want, and keep in mind what others tell you. The more information you have going in, the more confident you will be in your final decision.
